The Cuban women's water polo team will try to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, next year.

The Cuban players will participate in an Olympic qualifier in the Italian city of Trieste in February 2008.

Cuban experts pointed out that they are working with a shortlisted team including most members of the team that competed in the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The European countries that have not qualified for the Olympics, as well as Brazil and Canada, among others, will seek their qualification for Beijing in Trieste.

Three teams will qualify for the Beijing games, hence the interest of the Cuban players to win one of the places and ratify the development of water polo in Cuba.
