Over 11,000 medical students in Camagüey

The Carlos J. Finlay Medical University in the eastern Cuban province of Camagüey, has an enrollment of 11,275 students in several specialties.

The school has 2,597 students majoring in medicine, 431 in stomatology, 4,863 in health technology, 121 in health psychology and 3,263 in nursing.

Freshman medical students will study at the school, university polyclinics and in the community of their tutor.

Some 568 foreigners study medicine, including 67 who benefited from agreements between Foreign Ministries and 501 who belong to the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).

Of the 156 general integral doctors of ELAM (residents), 78 will major in a second specialty, including anesthesiology and resuscitation, cardiology, general surgery, dermatology, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, among others.
