For the first time this year, an evening of "rum-cigar" took place on Friday in the hotel Relais Saint-Denis in the presence of Señor Ernesto A. Senti Darias, ambassador of Cuba in Canada , Señora Rosa Adela Mejias Jiménez, director of the Tourism Office of Cuba in Montreal and Soeur Angèle, a well-know cook-chef of Quebec .
During the rest of the weekend, Cuban groups charmed the crowd with lively airs of Cuban music and professional dancers dazzled us by their performance. In addition to the typically Cuban music and dances, the public discovered the Cuban culture thanks to various exhibitors: presentation of superb photographies of Havana , AY, CUBA ! from Vanessa Vallejo-Mosienko, demonstration, initiation and dance courses (salsa, cha cha cha, rumba, merengue) with the Studio Caliente, performance of the Cuban group Los Corales, services of Rueda with the famous Ninon and sales of cultural products authentic of Cuba in the kiosk of Cubalavida.
This sunny weekend was presented in collaboration with the Tourist office from Cuba in Montreal, the Town of Saint-Sauveur, Lotto-Quebec, the newspaper the Valley, Cime FM, Uniglobe, Havana Club, Casa Del Habano, Habanos, the Roofs of the South, Cubana, the travel agency Vara Play, Cubalavida and the Chamber of Commerce and tourism of the Valley of Saint-Sauveur.
Nearly 300,000 inhabitants of Quebec visit Cuba each year so it is not surprising that the Cuban Festival attracted more than 40,000 people during three days. This edition was thus a great success and we impatiently await the Cuban Festival of 2008!
