Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque is in Tehran to preside along with his Iranian counterpart over a ministerial level meeting on Human Rights and Cultural Diversity of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), from September 3 to 4.
The meeting is expected to reaffirm the NAM commitment to defend human rights and cultural diversity based on principles of universality, objectivity, impartiality and non-selectivity. It is also seen as a way to contribute to greater cooperation between the 118 member nations.
A year ago, at the September 2006 NAM Summit in Havana, Cuba took on the chairmanship of the organization for a three-year period.
