Book about Fidel Castro is launched in Vietnam
The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association presented Friday the Vietnamese version of a book on Fidel Castro, "El merito de estar vivo" (the merit of being alive), to pay tribute to the Cuban leader's 81st birthday.

"This is a humble tribute to a man who has survived more than 600 assassination attempts, and who has set an example while fighting for his life after a severe disease," said Nguyen Cuong Dzung, assistant director of the publishing house that issued the book.

We are publishing it now on the occasion of the 81st birthday of Fidel, "a leader the Vietnamese people love very much. We see this publication as a step forward in the links between our peoples", stressed Dzung.

Cuban journalist and writer Luis Báez is the author of the text, whose publication in Vietnam results from a joint work of Prensa Latina news agency and the Publishing House of the Vietnamese News Agency (VNA).

The Vietnamese assistant director also announced the publication of two other Cuban and Latin American works.

The act took place at the Cuban embassy in Hanoi and was attended by the Vice Presidents of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association Do Van Tai, Pham Xuan Nam and Nguyen Duy Cuong.
