PETROCARIBE xummit begins today in Venezuela
According to organizers, the summit will serve "to strengthen the energy integration process in the region and also to strengthen multilateral relations" among the member countries: Cuba, Antigua, Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Surinam and Venezuela.

Today, experts and energy ministers of the region, led by Rafael Ramírez, Venezuelan Energy Minister and head of the Petroleos de Venezuela oil company (PDVSA), meet to assess the march of the projects agreed upon and other activities.

The meeting is regarded by experts as an excellent opportunity to
analyze the current situation of the world energy markets and their impact on oil importing countries.

Precisely, PETROCARIBE aims at eliminating asymmetries in the nations' access to energy resources using a fair, favorable and equitable model of exchange.

Since its foundation, PETROCARIBE has facilitated the creation of joint associations by some of these countries to work in the improvement of the infrastructure for the storage and distribution of oil and its derivatives.
