The Washington Post criticizes yankee prison in Guantánamo
The Washington Post daily denounced that the George W. Bush administration continues damaging the United States image and its moral authority abroad in keeping its Naval Base in Guantanamo, south-eastern Cuba, as a prison.
In last Wednesdays edition, the newspaper revealed that the Republicans are again trying to block bills enabling the captives to challenge detentions at US law court according to a Prensa Latina cable published on Granma newspaper.
"No government should be allowed to arrest persons indefinitely without opportunity to present claims before the prison authorities", the Post says.
In U.S. Guantánamo prison, kept on Cuban soil against the Cuban government and peoples will, Washington has almost 400 captives arrested in the wake of Afghanistan invasion in 2001.
