The notes were discovered in the bathroom of Hemingway's home from 1939 to 1960 in San Francisco de Paula, some 25 kilometres from Havana.
Dated from 1942 to 1953, the notes mainly contained indications of his weight - proof of Hemingway's passion for sport and care over his health, according to restaurateur Elisa Serrano, cited in Cuban media.
The notes were presented at an international colloquium for Hemingway in Havana. Hemingway wrote, among others, The Old Man and the Sea - for which he won the Nobel Prize - in his Cuban home, called Finca Vigia.
